Min spox: Russia can retaliate sanctions VS N Stream-2 symmetrically
MOSCOW, Dec 26 (PRIME) -- Russia does not rule out a mirror response to the U.S. sanctions against the project of gas pipeline Nord Stream-2, Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova spokeswoman said on Thursday at a briefing.
“I will not say how the measures the Russian side will look like, but as you have heard from the Russian officials of various levels, we always retaliate to such unfriendly moves. Unfortunately, the approach to response, which is symmetrical, mirror-like is still an option,” Zakharova said.
On December 21, Allseas suspended operations on the project due to the threat of U.S. sanctions and withdrew all its vessels engaged in laying the pipeline from the Baltic Sea after U.S. President Donald Trump had signed a defense budget envisaging spending on counteraction against Russia in various areas including sanctions against the Nord Stream-2.
